The Importance of Drama for the Student

                One of literature that relevant and easy to either comprehend or implement by the student in low level such as, senior high school and junior high school is drama. Drama, part of literature, is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance (wikipedia.org). As Chaunan (2013) cited that drama such kind of real communication which involves ideas, emotion, feelings, appropriateness and adaptability. Thus, drama can integrate English skills in one condition and situation. So, this essay will discuss about advantages of learning drama. They are enhancing linguistics abilities and making student more creative.

            First of all, drama provides some condition which allows the student do their communication with each other. Buchanan said that “At the center of all drama is communication. Like all the arts, Drama allows students to communicate with and understand others in new ways.” Similarly, Chaunan (2013) stated that drama provides writing and reading in one situation and it is useful in teaching literary texts as it helps in analyzing plots. Therefore, if the student learns drama, it can help them to improve their linguistics abilities. Their English will grow to be active English. 

            Second advantage of Drama is it can make the creativity of the student increase. Student will prepare what the section of Drama want. Otherwise, it depends on their creativity to make the setting looks like the real situation. As Buchanan stated that Dramatic art education is an important thing of stimulating creativity in problem solving. In short, by learning Drama student will improve their creativity to solve some problem which comes in the preparation, playing or finishing. 

            In conclusion, there are many things in drama that can develop in the classroom by the teacher in order to improve the students’ understanding and ability in English. Because drama not only can improve the students’ linguistics performance, but also it can increase students’ creativity. So, Drama is importance subject for the students’ of English.
